International Information Evening

International Information Evening

You may have seen some of the promotions around International 2019 and the programme of events on offer. Since launching on the 1st August at Poacher the county has seen significant levels of interest for the 2019 International Events. We have arranged an evening with the County International Team and Jamboree Leadership Team to promote the opportunities available to our members.

What's available?
There are 4 events as part of International 2019. These are briefly described below and a poster is attached for each one. Please share these with your groups and units. All the details for the trips and the links to sign up are available at

World Scout Jamboree - West Virginia, USA
This event will have 50,000 Scouts from around the world and is jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada. The site is enormous and has loads of activities available, as well as the cultural experiences that make up a Jamboree. More info at

Kandersteg International Scout Centre
A chance to visit the Scout centre in the alps and take part in all the activities and visits on offer. The young people who take part in this event will choose their own programme and shape the event with the leaders.

Exploring all the sites and sounds of Europe by rail, in advance of  the trip the young people will choose where they go, what they see and how long they spend in each place as well as sorting their own accommodation. This way the patrol of 8 to 12 young people and the 2 leaders will have their own adventure.

Czech Republic Activity Trip
Taking place in South Bohemia this trip will also see the young people work with the leaders to plan which activities they take part in from the many on offer, including downhill mountain biking, sailing, sledding, white water rafting, in-line skating and many more.

Who is this for?
Anybody born between the 22nd July 2001 and 21st July 2005, so at the moment this will include Scouts and Explorers. Anybody older than this will be able to apply for the International Service Team at the World Scout Jamboree via and other opportunities will be offered to those both sides of the age range in the future.
Members of the international team, and/or those leading events will come to the district and speak to young people, parents and leaders to give them all the information we have on the series of events.

Our International Opportunities Evening will be held Friday 20 October 2017, at Wellingore Scout Hut, starting at 7:30pm. This will take the form of a presentation with all the information and then a Q&A as a group. Members of the International Team will then be available for individual questions.

Please pass on details of this information event to all eligible young people - it would be great to have a strong Sleaford representation at the next World Scout Jamboree.

Start Date:
Friday, 20 October, 2017 - 19:30
