Join Scouts

Where do you see yourself in the 2020 vision?

Whether you know a young person who wants to start their adventure, you’re an adult who wants to volunteer with young people, volunteer with other adults or simply want to donate to assist in making all of these things happen. This is where you can see where you fit in Sleaford District Scouts.

Youth Membership

If you know a young person who would like to join a section or be included on the waiting list, give us a call on (01522) 546390 or email  us.

Every week Scout groups give almost half a million 6-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Volunteer with Young People

Application Form

If you would like to help young people enjoy their adventure, please complete our application form selecting Adult Volunteer, give us a call on (01522) 546390 or email us.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent.

Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand.

  • We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers.
  • We’re talking about mini bus drivers and first aiders.
  • We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV
  • We’re talking about parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.
  • Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in.

Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread for a group of very hungry eleven year olds - no two Scout meetings are the same.

The difference you can make, though, is always great.

We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life.

Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is

Volunteer with Adults

You might already be involved in Scouting or you might not. Local groups delivering Scouting are supported by teams bringing opportunity to help the adults in groups or take on some projects that need to happen locally or right across the county.

We’re hoping you’ll be part of how we support the adults Scouting in Lincolnshire.

Completing small and large projects or being part of a specialist team in a wide range of different areas, everyone will get more out of what they put in.

The role also involves working closely with the County Training Manager, District Appointment Advisory Committee, DC, and district team, as well as the local Training Advisors.

The role of LTM is important to ensure training is undertaken and kept up to date throughout the district; to support the team of TAs, recruit new TAs; to support the many different forms of training available through scouting and provide the leaders with the skills they need to run balanced, fun programmes though all the sections.

It is important that we identify a wide a selection of candidates with the skill sets to successfully support the District, and county training team, as possible, so your application/nomination is vital to the process of developing a short list for interview.

Please support your district by submitting a nomination.

Website Advisors (Large Project)

Lincolnshire Scouts are considering the requirements of digital tools by the public and internal membership. One of these tools is the current website and a number of suggestions have been made to improve or replace the current site.

Could you help support the growing number of OSM users in your District?

Whilst some sections have been using OSM for some time, others are now taking it up under the new Lincolnshire provision. Some groups will be transferring from their current agreement and transferring onto the county wide offer but aren’t always sure they are using it as best they can.

If you could help answer questions on how to improve use of OSM functions, apply hints and tips for getting the most out of the application and generally help those who want to use the application more we’d like to include your name and an agreed contact on a central SuperUser list so that others can lean on you for some answers.
