Metheringham Scouts | Expedition Challenge Weekend

Expedition Challenge Weekend

On the 19th/20th October Scouts from the 1st Metheringham Scout Group took over the Viking Centre, a hostel close to the Viking Way in Claxby, near Market Rasen.

Five Scouts, undertaking their expedition challenge, hiked 10 miles into the centre, along the Viking Way. A further 8, on a survival skills camp, hiked in 8 miles from the opposite direction. Both groups met up at the Centre. For their evening meal the Scouts on the survival skills camp learned how to clean fish and steam it in wet paper on coals.

On day 2 the exped Scouts set off to complete their expedition with a further hike which they completed on time and without getting lost. The skills camp Scouts ‘scavenged’ eggs for breakfast and did an emergency scenario, then cleaned up the centre before getting in the bus to pick up the expeds and return home.

A very successful camp and a great weekend for all of us!
